Inside the Mind of Loreno Mayer: An Exclusive Interview with the Croatian Music Producer and DJ

Step into the world of Loreno Mayer, the Croatian music producer making waves in the EDM scene. With releases on top labels like Revealed and Enhanced Music, his tracks have garnered support from legends like Above & Beyond and Ferry Corsten.

-How did you begin with music?

Everything started when I was only 11 or 12 years old. The very first time I found out about this type of music was from David Guetta’s album “Guetta Blaster”. I heard one of the songs from the album somewhere on the radio, and soon after, I bought the CD copy of the album, which made me completely fall in love with EDM. That’s when I started trying to create my own music, which led to my first track “Where Is Your Love” when I was only 15, which now has a few million streams across all platforms. Besides that, half of my family plays some type of instrument or are talented singers, so it was almost impossible not to go into music.

-With which labels and artists have you worked on?

I worked with so many people, and some of them are now good friends of mine. I have released music on Revealed Recordings, Enhanced Music, Black Hole Recordings, and Cr2 Records, to name a few. I have also collaborated with many talented producers, vocalists, and writers in the past. Currently, I am working with Alexander Popov, Omnia, and Vigel. These guys have always been a big inspiration to me, and I have always looked up to them. Being able to work with them now is a special feeling that motivates me even more! I also worked with Kyle Reynolds, who was a writer for David Guetta’s single “Lighter”. I am currently working with Joe Taylor, who has worked with Tiesto, DubVision, Kygo, and others. Exciting times! I am really excited for all these collaborations!

-Are there any new releases coming soon?

Oh yes! This year is probably one of the busiest years in my career so far. I have 6 singles signed for this year, plus about 7 more in progress!

-What’s your studio setup?

My studio setup is separated into 2 parts. One is the production area, where I have a pair of Adam Audio T7V speakers with an Adam Audio Subwoofer T10S. They are some of the best speakers I’ve ever had. My interface is an Apogee Symphony, I use FL Studio, and I recently acquired the FL Studio Fire Controller, which is a brilliant piece of gear. I also use the TC Electronic Clarity M for correlation, real-time analysis, balancing, etc. Additionally, I use the M-Audio Oxygen 61 keyboard. For headphones, I have the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro and the KRK 6400.

The second part is the DJing table, where I have a Pioneer XDJ RX3 Controller, a pair of KRK Rokit 5 speakers, Sennheiser HD-25 Headphones, and a Røde Microphone, which I also use in my production to record stuff for my songs.

-How has your musical taste evolved over the years?

My musical taste has changed a lot when it comes to listening to music. But when it comes to my own songs, I always try to keep my emotional side with progressive house and progressive trance, which I like to mix with pop. At the beginning of my career, I always liked to go a bit heavier to big room and electro house tracks, but that has changed a little bit with time. Lately, I’ve been working on a few big festival tracks like, for example, my new single “I Don’t Wanna Be,” and people can expect these from me from time to time. Besides these, I have a bunch of progressive house and trance tracks in progress, and as I mentioned, I like to work with vocalists and writers from the pop industry as they bring a different vibe and emotion to my tracks.

-What do you like to do in your spare time?

To be honest, my life is all about music. When I do have some free time, I use it for my family and for some nice relaxing walks on the beach, or trying to stay healthy with workouts and maintaining a healthy diet, which is very important no matter what we do in life!

For the last part, I just want to thank everyone for all your support and make sure to stay tuned for all the new music that’s coming out this year!
