Jordi van Achthoven aka half of Tinlicker branches out into new musical realms as They Call Me Steve. First up, the accomplished Dutchman teases his upcoming Escapism album on Be Yourself Music with lead single ‘Whatever You Call It’ on 21st March 2025.

As Tinlicker with Micha Heyboer, Jordi has played some of the world’s largest festivals and released a unique brand of electronica and labels such as Anjunadeep, mau5trap and Astralwerks. Now he indulges a different side as They Call Me Steve which leans into melodic and organic house with subtle influences of R&B and Soul.

Says Jordi, ““This song is the first song I created, not knowing this would result in an album. Inspired by RnB and dance music, ‘Whatever you call it” was made in my living room. Almost everything is about love and revolves around love. Fear is not love, dependence is not love, jealousy is not love, possessiveness and domination are not love, self-pity is not love, the agony of not being loved is not love. Or is it just a thing that people like to call ‘love’?

‘Whatever You Call It’ is a low slung house sound with rich synth designs and smeared chords that bring a sense of nostalgia and romantic longing. Lazy claps and swirling vocals add to the organic, natural sound and the well swung drums are perfectly enticing.

This is a fantastic first taste of the Escapism album which is due in September 2025.
