Samuli Kemppi drops his latest analogue techno EP on Italian vinyl only label Concrete Records LTD

Concrete Records is an Italian label based in Rome that has seen contributions from Voices From the Lake, Minilogue, Svreca, Tensal, Echologist aka Brendon Moeller, Cassegrain, and many more, with many releases gaining multiple represses.

Samuli Kemppi is a leading light of the Finnish techno scene. He has run the respected radio show Deep Space Helsinki with Juho Kusti for over 15 years, as well as releasing his music on legendary imprints such as Berghain’s Ostgut Ton, Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver, Arnaud Le Texier’s Children of Tomorrow, Lewis Fautzi’s Faut Section, and the influential M_REC LTD created by the late Max_M.

Beginning with “Trying to Bite,” the EP starts with a brooding and pulsing affair using a bubbling bassline for maximum effect.

Next up, “Conversation Without Resolution” is a more abstract trip with angular, modular distortion providing an unnerving sense of drama and tension rolled into one.

“All Warnings On” has rubbery bass tones at its core, while the skittering percussion adds energy and the pressure builds like an engine ready to blow.

Track four, “Looking for a Way Out” displays a raw and hypnotic groove, with a bouncing drum and static-like screeches joined by exuberant bleeps and analogue textures.

The penultimate track titled “A Chamber Full of Nothing” is patient and atmospheric, a deep dive into dubby realms of introspection combined with style and underground flavour.

Closing out is “River of Names” with a mechanical flutter that complements a throbbing sonic element and vocal-like chants to add more dance floor ready vibe.
