Oppidan – easily one of the most exciting producers in dance music – reveals the new single ‘WAKE AND BREAK’, out on October 11th via Promised Land Records.

On the new single ‘WAKE AND BREAK’, Oppidan drifts from her much-loved UKG sound heard on hits like ‘Mr. Sandman’ (3M streams) and ‘Armed & Dangerous’ (1M streams), diving deeper into rave territory. The formula is simple: loop a vocal, drop in an earth-shattering drum break, vocal shots and lashings of strings and a subtle melody and the result is a reload-worthy dancefloor weapon.

2024 has been a year dominated by well-received Oppidan belters. Her speed garage remix of Diffrent’s smash-hit ‘A Little Closer’ came out in late September, and it’s been doing the rounds, most notably being played to 25k ravers at Creamfields (watch HERE). The Bristol producer also recently dropped her melody-driven single ‘WHERE’S MY VAPE?’ and in July linked up with Boy Better Know member and grime legend Frisco for their collab single, ‘FRESH AND NEW’.

Hailing from Bristol, Oppidan has quickly emerged as a standout act in a recent wave of UKG and bass producers born out of sweaty UK raves, who are reimagining the genre for modern ravers, blending old-school sounds with a contemporary approach. Most notably her sublime, choppy edit of The Chordettes’ classic track ‘Mr. Sandman’ created a huge buzz in 2023, receiving heavy support at Glastonbury and Boomtown. The track now has over 3,000,000 streams.

Nominated for ‘Breakthrough Producer’ at the DJ Mag Awards in 2023, Oppidan has key releases on UKF and Night Bass, having worked with producers like Sammy Virji, Hans Glader, and MCs Cutty Ranks and Dread MC. She’s gained strong radio support from the likes of Radio 1, Kiss FM, Rinse, Reprezent, as well as international platforms like Australia’s Triple J and New Zealand’s George FM.

Aside from production, Oppidan has played at festivals such as Outlook and Creamfields this year, Amnesia in Ibiza, completed a tour of Australia, New Zealand and the US, and her ‘Armed & Dangerous’ UK tour. In August, Oppidan supported Chase & Status at their huge day rave at Milton Keynes Bowl alongside the likes of Sammy Virji and Sherelle.

In October, Oppidan will make her debut in Japan with shows in Osaka and Tokyo. The following month, Oppidan returns to the UK to play alongside massive names like Caribou, Logic1000, Ahadadream and more at Four Tet’s huge Four Tet Curates night at Drumsheds.

‘WAKE AND BREAK’ arrives amid a meteoric rise for Oppidan. Supplying a breaks-focussed bass track that differs from her signature style, it’s the sign of a diverse and highly talented producer in their prime.
