Meta is rolling out its verified subscription service!

Hey guys, some exciting news from Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram! They just launched their new paid subscription service, Meta Verified, in the US. It’s similar to Twitter’s verified service set up by Elon Musk. So basically, once your identity is confirmed with government identification, you get a sweet verification badge, “proactive” account protection against impersonators, and access to account support on Facebook and Instagram.

It’s been tested already in Australia and New Zealand, and it looks like it’s going to cost $11.99 a month on the web and $14.99 a month on iOS and Android. But the good news is that if you’re already a public figure, celebrity, or brand, and you meet the eligibility requirements, you’re already verified and won’t need to buy this service.

Meta has seen some great results from the testing they’ve done, but they’re still making some changes based on feedback they’ve received. For example, they’re temporarily pausing the increased reach and visibility feature because it was confusing for some users.

Meanwhile, remember when Elon Musk created Twitter Blue? Well, it looks like he’s got some competition from Meta now. Twitter Blue costs $8 a month and gives users a verification checkmark, an edit button on posts, and the ability to post longer videos. So which one will you choose?
