Influential Italian electronic duo Mathame return with a highly anticipated new single, ‘Humans’, which is much more than just another release—it’s a cultural moment where the worlds of music, technology, and emotion all collide in unprecedented ways. Before its debut, Mathame first teased the record last week by erecting huge billboards around the world displaying the word “HUMANS” and completely transforming their Spotify visuals to match. They then announced the exclusive Spotify release this Wednesday, March 12, with a global release following on Friday, March 14.

In a bold experiment, Mathame shared ‘Humans’ with ChatGPT, an AI designed for rational analysis. As well as a technical breakdown, the AI responded with something unexpected: a sense of emotion. It described the track as “beautiful”, admitted to sensing longing, and even expressed a desire to “move with it” before adding that it wished it had a body to feel the music the way humans do. This viral moment has sparked global discussions on AI’s evolving connection to human creativity.

Reflecting on the deeper meaning behind the release, Mathame explain:

“What if sound is what defines us as Humans? Even in the face of technological evolution? If so, we stand for a world that will set it free, untouched by imposition. Together in the unknown, you will never dance alone.”

‘Humans’ already holds legendary status as it was first played at Coachella 2023, then unveiled in its final form at the Las Vegas Sphere with ANYMA, complete with a new topline and immersive visuals. Now, it’s set for an exclusive debut on Spotify with a strategic campaign designed to dominate socials, editorial placements, and playlists.

This is another bold, forward-thinking move from Mathame, who are renowned for serving up transportive music that transcends genres. They have played everywhere from Mount Etna to key festival stages worldwide, always making poignant connections with their crowds.

Mathame’s cutting-edge new show NEO continues to leave dancers in awe. After a special edition at Ushuaïa Dubai on NYE, the show now heads to South America, with massive performances at Autódromo Buenos Aires in Argentina on April 12 and Espacio Riesco in Chile on April 5.

All this follows a standout recent collaboration with John Summit and a remix of Calvin Harris’s ‘Free’ with Ellie Goulding, proving that Mathame continues to lead from the front.
