Jono Stephenson Returns To Purified Records With ‘Digital Rain’

Continuing his journey with Purified Records, South African artist Jono Stephenson releases his electrifying new single Digital Rain, a stunning testament to his mastery of melodic techno and deep house.

Since debuting on the label in 2024 with Pathfinder as part of the Fragments XVIII compilation, Jono has become a regular on the label, following up with the shimmering Midnight Sun and the collaborative anthem Pulling Me To Youalongside Paradoks and Frynn. With Digital Rain, Jono solidifies his place as a standout talent, blending deep emotional resonance with dancefloor energy.

Digital Rain is an evocative journey that unfolds with pulsating basslines and cascading melodic textures. The track’s lush, atmospheric layers create a sense of space and introspection, while its driving rhythm propels it forward with hypnotic intensity. Jono masterfully balances uplifting melodies and darker undertones, crafting a piece that resonates both emotionally and physically. 

The ‘Digital Rain’ artwork shows the River Otta near the town of Lom in Norway, captured after several days of heavy rain by Jan Erik Waider. A fine art photographer based in Hamburg, Germany, Jan is known for capturing abstract landscapes of the northern latitudes. With a focus on water, ice, and intricate natural patterns, his work reveals the beauty hidden in the subtle details of the world around us.

The water, laden with sediments, created striking patterns through the currents. The river’s name likely originates from the Old Norse verb ótta, meaning “to scare” or “to terrify.” Fed by glaciers, the river is known for its strong and fierce flooding, particularly during periods of intense rainfall or glacial melt.
