Interview: Alex Galvan and BÂBEL talk about their collaborative organic house release “Piedras Preciosas” on Satélite Records

Alex Galvan and BÂBEL are Mexican artists teaming up to release their new organic house EP, “Piedras Preciosas”. They recently joined forces to release a track via Sounds of Khemit, and this new release comes via Satélite Records.

Alex Galvan’s style is a fusion of organic sounds and trippy atmosphere, and BÂBEL is a duo whose performances are a hybrid mix of DJing and live instruments.

“Piedras Preciosas” is a moody two-track release, and we invited the artists for this joint interview so we can learn more about their collaborative music…

Can you start by telling us about your background in music, and how you would each describe your individual sound?

Alex Galvan: “Electronic music has been part of my life for almost 20 years, and over time, it has become the space where I found my voice as both a DJ and producer. My journey has moved through different sounds and stages, but today my focus is creating musical experiences that feel like a journey — something that connects emotionally while still keeping strong dancefloor energy.

“My sound blends melodic and progressive elements with organic textures, always trying to move between deeper moments and euphoric peaks. For me, DJing is about storytelling — guiding people through emotions, celebration, and connection on the dancefloor.”

BÂBEL: “BÂBEL was born from a shared need to explore music as a language beyond genres or formulas. Both of us come from different musical paths, but we connect deeply through rhythm, texture, and emotion. Our backgrounds span electronic music, live performance, and sound exploration, and the project became a space where all of that could coexist freely.

“Our sound lives somewhere between the organic and the electronic. We’re drawn to hypnotic grooves, ancestral and percussive elements, and melodic motifs that feel almost ritualistic. Rather than focusing on a single style, we think in terms of atmosphere and movement — music that can work on a dancefloor, but also invite introspection. For us, it’s about creating a state, not just a track.”

Tell us more about your BABEL alias, and what makes the project something special?

BÂBEL: “The name BÂBEL reflects the idea of many voices, cultures, and energies converging into one shared experience. The project is special to us because it’s not built around trends or expectations, but around intuition and trust in the process.

“BÂBEL is a space of dialogue between rhythm and silence, tension and release, the body and the mind. We don’t approach music as something purely functional; we see it as a bridge that connects people through feeling. What makes it unique is that every decision comes from a place of honesty and curiosity, allowing the project to evolve naturally without forcing an identity.”

How did you first meet BÂBEL, and what made you decide to make some music with them?

Alex Galvan: “We first met in 2024 during Surreal Fest. They played right after my set on the mainstage, and the next day we crossed paths again around the festival transport vans before heading back, although each of us went our own way.

“Later, we stayed in touch through Instagram and eventually decided to meet in the studio to see what would happen creatively, without any expectations. The process flowed very naturally, and we realized our musical sensitivities connected easily, which made collaborating feel like a very organic next step.”

How did you first meet Alex, and what made you decide to make some music with them?

BÂBEL: “Meeting Alex felt very organic. There was no big plan or intention at first, just mutual respect and curiosity after crossing paths at Surreal Fest. When we eventually met in the studio, the chemistry was immediate. There was an unspoken understanding in how we approached sound and structure.

“What made us decide to work together was how effortless the collaboration felt. Ideas flowed without ego, and the music started to take shape almost on its own. That kind of connection is rare, and when it happens, it feels natural to follow it and see where it leads.”

Your collaborative release, “Piedras Preciosas” is out on Satélite Records. Please can you talk us through the tracks?

Alex Galvan: “Piedras Preciosas” was conceived as a journey that slowly moves from tension into flow. When we were working in the studio, we noticed the tracks naturally fell into two emotional states that complemented each other.

“La Joya” carries a more focused and intense energy — it feels sharp and precise, like a moment of concentration on the dancefloor. Then “La Pieza” opens up into something warmer and more fluid, giving space to breathe while still keeping people moving.

“For us, the EP reflects how music can move through different emotions without losing coherence. It’s not about being loud or overwhelming, but about creating something that resonates and stays with you.”

BABEL: “The EP feels like two different sides of the same story. “La Joya” represents that initial intensity — tight, controlled energy that pulls people in and holds attention. Then with “La Pieza,” everything becomes more open and emotional, almost like a release after that tension.

“We liked the idea of building something that evolves rather than just hitting hard from start to finish. Both tracks share the same spirit but show different moods, and together they feel like something carefully shaped rather than forced. The goal was simply to create music that people can feel and remember.”

Satélite Records is a record label run by Alex Galvan, and it would be great to learn more about the imprint?

Alex Galvan: “Satélite Records was founded in 2020 together with my partner Andec James as a platform to release music that connects people emotionally on the dancefloor. From the beginning, our idea was to build a home for artists who create immersive and honest music, rather than simply following trends.

“The label moves across the hypnotic beats of melodic house and techno to the earthy tones of organic house, the pulsating rhythms of Afro-house, and the indie dance vibes of techno that create emotional journeys. It’s music designed both for clubs and deeper listening moments.

“More than just a label, Satélite Records is becoming a community of artists and listeners who share the intention of creating meaningful experiences through music.”

Do you guys have any other collaborative releases planned, and what’s coming up in your individual schedules?

Alex Galvan: “We’re definitely open to collaborating again, since working together felt very natural creatively. Sometimes those connections don’t happen often, so when they do, it makes sense to keep exploring them.

“On my side, I’ve spent the last few months focusing heavily on the studio, preparing new music, and developing a refreshed vision for my project. I’m excited to soon share this new chapter, both through releases and upcoming shows, where I can bring that renewed energy back to the dancefloor.”

BÂBEL: “We’re very open to continuing the collaboration. The experience showed us that we share a similar sensitivity when it comes to building musical narratives, so it’s something we’d love to explore further when the timing feels right.

“As BÂBEL, we’re currently focused on developing new music that expands our sonic universe — deeper explorations of rhythm, texture, and emotion. We’re also preparing upcoming performances where we can translate that sound into immersive live experiences. Everything is moving step by step, but with a clear intention of growth and depth.”
