Hi Cyazon, how are you? Congrats on the release of ‘All I Wanted’!

Hello! Doing well, thank you.

How did the concept for ‘All I Wanted’ first come to you? Was there a specific moment or inspiration that sparked the idea?

The inspiration behind ‘All I Wanted’ came to me when I listened to an unreleased bootleg of a Sub Focus and Dimension remix. I wanted to create something similar but with my own twist.

What were some of the key production techniques you used to create the atmospheric and futuristic feel in ‘All I Wanted’?

I achieved the atmospheric/futuristic feel by using analog synths from Arturia and adding a lot of reverb with the Valhalla VintageVerb.

Can you share some details about the sound design of the track, particularly the powerful low-end and pulsing bassline?

I crafted the bassline by layering three different bass sounds. The first was made in Serum with a detuned saw wave and a Juno wave, along with a short envelope on a low-pass filter. The second used the Icanhaskick wavetable and another detuned saw wave. The third was also a saw wave. All of these were put through distortion via SerumFX and mid-side OTT compression. The pulsing bassline was similarly layered, with fine-tuned saw waves and sync modulation to give it a distinct energy.

The track builds a lot of tension leading up to intense drops. How did you approach crafting the build-ups, and what was your process for structuring the track to maintain engagement and anticipation throughout?

For the build-ups, I filtered the drums and bassline to create tension while adding risers. To maintain energy during the drops, I kept the bassline and drums going while occasionally removing elements like the bass and drums for contrast. The vocal performance also played a key role in maintaining energy.

How long did it take from the first idea to the final version of ‘All I Wanted’? Were there any major changes along the way?

It took about a month to finish the instrumental. Six months later, I finalized the vocals. There were quite a few changes to the vocal arrangement and mixing along the way.

The use of gritty pads and atmospheric synths creates an immersive soundscape in ‘All I Wanted.’ What was your approach to layering these elements to build tension and maintain the track’s driving energy?

I began with a synth pluck melody in the intro, adding atmospheric pads. Later, I introduced a brass synth with chords and a synth lead counter melody. These elements return in the final half of the drops, keeping the energy up.

How does ‘All I Wanted’ fit into your broader artistic vision? Would you say it is a continuation of themes from your previous work or an exploration into new territories?

I believe ‘All I Wanted’ fits within the same sonic style as my past and upcoming releases. It’s definitely a continuation of themes from my previous work.

What part of the track are you most proud of? Is there a particular element that stands out to you?

I’m really proud of how the drops and choruses turned out. The rolling bassline in the drops stands out the most, as it was the main element I focused on.

What do you hope listeners take away from ‘All I Wanted’? Is there a message or feeling you wanted to communicate through this track?

I want listeners to feel a sense of high energy and euphoria, combined with the atmospheric, immersive vibes of the track.

Can you share what you have coming up next? Are there any more releases fans should look forward to?

I have an upcoming EP dropping next year, with singles from it releasing in November and December this year. I’m also sending an unreleased track to vocalists to find the perfect fit.
