Hi Lorna James how are things? Tell us, what’s new?
Hi, nice to be here and thanks for having me. I’m currently in the final stages of compiling my Melodic / Deep House album ‘The Right to be Forgotten’ which is due out in the autumn.
Can you share your plans for the upcoming summer?
I’ll be spending my summer between Ibiza and the US this year – and I’m looking forward to seeing some big performances in both countries.
What about your future releases? What can fans expect to hear next?
Summer 2024 is a busy one for me release-wise. I’m releasing five tracks from my forthcoming album over the summer, which works out at one new track every three weeks. The first track from the album, ‘Ce Soir’, was picked up by BBC Introducing and the next release, ‘Something We’re Not Seeing’, a deep Melodic House track, has done really well globally on DJ promo. After that I’m releasing ‘All We Left Behind’ which is a really big euphoric production. I’m excited to see what fans think of them!
How would you say the summer impacts your creative output? Do you find yourself more inspired to create or do other hobbies tend to draw your focus away from music?
I try and be really consistent with music production throughout the year, and try to make one decent track a week. Whilst holidays and events can take up a lot of time over the summer months, I try to make sure that I remain consistent in my output.
What have you been listening to recently?
I’m currently obsessed with a track called ‘Nach Hause Ghen’ by Blindsmyth and ‘House’ by London Grammar. Both fabulous pieces of music.
What about live events, festivals and shows? Do you have any intention of attending any this summer?
I’ll be going to lots of festivals and live events this summer, too many to list here!
Outside of music, can you tell us what you enjoy doing during the summer? How do you like to relax?
I love throwing parties, especially when it’s warm enough to stay outside late into the evening, so I’ll be hosting a few in July and August.
With the summer bringing refreshing vibes, and as the weather changes and the overall energy becomes more uplifting and inspiring, how would you say the overall sound of your productions change/ Do you find the sonic character of your tracks alters at all?
I find that the warmer it gets, the deeper my sound becomes. After attending IMS in April, I came back to the UK and immediately wrote ‘Something We’re Not Seeing’ which is probably the deepest House track I’ve written so far. Go figure…
Collaborations often flourish during the summer months, are there any artists or producers you’re particularly excited to work with soon?
I’m currently working with Jan Johnston (aka the Queen of Trance) on vocals for some of my tracks and I’m working on a remix album too, which will have remixes by DJ Dove, Andy Galea, 2Dees and some other really exciting artists.
Tell us, what are you most looking forward to as we look ahead to your summer and the rest of the year?
I am really excited to hear some of my new music being played at events over the summer months. I can’t wait to gage the crowd’s reaction.
