Charlie Conway presents his “1107” EP on Darkroom Bureau

On the “1107” EP, Charlie Conway shows a stark, improvisational take on techno production with two originals “1107” and “deriv.3”. Expect brisk, resonant synth lines, deep bass swells, and swung-out percussion grooves. If they sound like raw excerpts from a live session, it’s because they are: the tracks were recorded shortly after Conway’s first live performance in 2019. Following the originals, Freeman 713 takes a dark angle on “1107”, pairing the pace and drive of the original with haunting chord leads, swirling pads, and intense hat patterns. On the closing track, Amnesiac Host reworks the “deriv.3” bassline into a new assemblage of kick/bass grooves, ping-ponged handdrum patterns, and dissonant chord pads.
