French producer Boston Bun teams up with Australian duo Bag Raiders for a massive festival banger, ‘SAVE ME’, out today via Future Classic.

Perfectly at home among a new wave of leftfield high-energy bass house, ‘SAVE ME’ sees the trio chop up emotive pitched-up vocals, layering them over warm pads, punchy low-ends and skittish high-ends, resulting in a unique peak-time slammer.

Bag Raiders’ Chris Stracey explains how ‘SAVE ME’ came about: “We went to the studio which was underground in an old stone Haussmann building and felt like maybe it could be haunted. On went the laptop… out came the drum sounds. The hi-hats were fast, the vibes were turbo… but where was it going? Nobody knew. Thibaud (Boston Bun) started flipping through what seemed like an endless Rolodex of acapellas he had lying around on his laptop. We started to chop it up and worked it into a short repeatable hook. It felt like magic was in the works. We threw together some chords on the Prophet – just a simple raw sound that felt good in the moment.

Real name Thibaud Noyer, Boston Bun delivers a distinct take on house and French Touch 2.0, inspired by French electronic dance forefathers Daft Punk, Cassius and Braxe & Falcon. Becoming a leading figure in today’s scene, Noyer patiently cultivated a quirky sound over twelve years that blends house grooves, emotion, humour and disco.

He gained significant recognition with a series of releases on Pedro Winter’s iconic Ed Banger Records, with his 2017 single ‘Missing You’ marking his first international breakthrough. The track quickly received support from industry heavyweights such as Diplo, Mark Ronson, BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Danny Howard, and Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. It’s now close to hitting 50 million Spotify streams. In 2019, Boston Bun’s feel-good house track ‘Don’t Wanna Dance’ reached the top 10 on the Billboard US dance charts and garnered over 10 million combined streams.

In addition to his solo work, in 2021 Noyer co-produced Fred again.. and The Blessed Madonna’s ‘Marea (we’ve lost dancing)’ – a bouncing, epic dance track that arguably sits in the same vein as ‘SAVE ME’. The success of ‘Marea’ has been on show for all to see, cruising towards the half-a-billion mark in terms of Spotify streams.

Bag Raiders have been making a stark impact on dance music for some time. They gained early fame with their 2008 EP ‘Turbo Love!’ and their 2010 self-titled debut album, which peaked at 7th on the ARIA Albums Chart. Their move to Los Angeles in the early 2010s saw them release acclaimed EPs and their second album, ‘Horizons’ (2019), featuring singles like ‘How Long’ and ‘Lightning’. The duo has also notably were also featured on the 2013 GTA IV soundtrack with their remix of K.I.M’s ‘B.T.T.T.T.R.Y’.

In the last two years, Australian dance stars Bag Raiders have been prolific both in the studio and on the road, touring their live show extensively across North America, Mexico, Australia, and Indonesia. They launched Broken Head Records in 2022, marking a return to their club roots with a focus on fun and freedom in their music. Their 2022 releases ‘UR Heart’, ‘Never Forget’, and ‘Letting Go’ showcased their signature blend of emotive melodies and energetic beats, earning widespread acclaim and tons of radio play globally.

This new joint single, ‘SAVE ME’ by Boston Bun and Bag Raiders re-affirms why Bun’s second album is surely shaping up to be one of 2024’s biggest highlights. Boasting a fresh new side to his artistry, it’s an album that so far sounds distinctly Bun while fitting in with today’s sound. Be sure to keep one ear to the ground for more news in the build-up to this major second album from Boston Bun.
