Behind the scale and spectacle of today’s international concerts and live productions is an extensive creative process that begins well before an audience enters the venue. For Andre Beekmans, founder and lead creative behind The Art of Light, that process is centered on one goal: transforming a performance into something audiences will remember.

His approach reaches far beyond lighting alone. Beekmans considers the entire visual language of a production, bringing lighting, video, audio, special effects, staging, and artist branding together to support the identity and emotion of a show.

“I don’t see lighting as an individual aspect of a show,” Beekmans explains. “It’s part of a much bigger picture. Our job is to elevate the music, the artist, or the brand into another dimension by bringing every visual element together.”

It is an approach that has helped define The Art of Light. The international creative production company specializes in lighting design, programming, show operation, and large-scale live entertainment, with its work spanning global music festivals, arena tours, cinematic concert productions, branded events, and other major live projects.

While technology and technical execution are essential to that work, Beekmans considers collaboration one of the most important parts of bringing an idea to the stage.

“My favorite part is working alongside artists and creative teams,” he says. “Every artist evolves, every tour evolves, and every visual identity changes over time. Being able to grow with them and develop those ideas together is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.”

That process involves creative and technical professionals across numerous disciplines. The Art of Light regularly collaborates with programmers, lighting operators, video specialists, production managers, stage designers, and creative directors, coordinating their individual expertise around a shared artistic direction.

Executing that vision in a live environment also requires the ability to respond quickly when circumstances change. For Beekmans, adaptability has become just as important as creative ambition.

“Live entertainment teaches you very quickly that deadlines are absolute,” he says. “When the doors open, the audience doesn’t see the challenges behind the scenes. No matter what happens during production, you find a solution and make the show happen.”

That mentality has remained central throughout Beekmans’ career and the development of The Art of Light. Each new project brings another opportunity to raise the standard established by the one before it.

“You’re only as good as your last show,” he explains. “Every audience deserves the best experience possible, and every project is another opportunity to improve.”

The next chapter for Beekmans and The Art of Light is continuing to take shape internationally. The company is expanding its portfolio through several large-scale touring productions across North America and Europe, including immersive concert experiences connected to globally recognized gaming and entertainment franchises. Additional major productions are currently in development and remain confidential ahead of their official announcements.

As the scope of those projects grows, Beekmans is also looking toward greater involvement at the earliest stages of production. Rather than entering only when the technical elements are ready to be developed, his ambition is to contribute from initial creative development through the final execution of a show.

“Our goal is to design entire experiences from beginning to end,” he says. “The earlier we become involved in a project, the more opportunity there is to create something truly memorable.”

That ambition ultimately returns to the principle that has guided his work from the beginning: the audience should leave with more than an appreciation for what happened technically on stage.

“Our hope is that people don’t just remember the lights,” he says. “They remember the feeling they had during the show. If we’ve helped create a memory they’ll talk about for years, then we’ve done our job.”

As The Art of Light continues building its presence across North America, Europe, and the wider international live entertainment industry, Beekmans’ work reflects an approach in which creative direction, technical expertise, and collaboration operate as parts of the same vision. Through increasingly ambitious productions and an expanding global portfolio, he continues to develop experiences designed not simply to be seen, but to be remembered.
