Air Horse One drop trippy downtempo EP, “Upside Down”

Air Horse One deliver a dark and intense downtempo release, which also has an impressive remix selection, including Zuma Dionys, Catatonique, Oondza, Matija, and Richard Elcox.

The release is traditional to Air Horse One’s style, as it features the duo’s intense combination of heavy basslines, dark pads, and trippy vocals. Both of the two original tracks are in the same style, and there is a minimal undertone to the release, which is out now on the Baikal Nomads record label.

All of the remix artists bring something to the table, but Zuma Dionys’ is the standout, as he remixes the title track into organic house. The other three remixes are a lot more synth focused, and in line with the style of the originals.

All of the artists are accomplished, and each has featured either a track or remix on a previous Baikal Nomads’ release. Collectively, they have also made individual contributions to the likes of Lump Records, Shango Records, Sol Selectas, Cafe De Anatolia, Cosmic Awakenings, and Kosa.

Zuma Dionys remix has flowing congas, but the originals and other remixes have drums that are mainly sequenced into tight rhythms. The basslines are ominous and intense, and the vocals have a distorted sound that makes them more of a texture.

On a whole, the dark vibe of the release isn’t for those who only like an uplifting style of downtempo, but it’s focus on intense sounds makes it ideal for the dance floor.

Out now, but a copy HERE.
