TIBASKO, 2024’s hotly-tipped dance music duo, return with an emotional new single, ‘Running’ ft. Dwara, out 26th July on [PIAS] Électronique.

The latest track to be released as part of their pivotal new record deal with [PIAS], ‘Running’ is a cinematic showstopper, capturing the duo’s beloved euphoric yet equally melancholic sound.

On ‘Running’, stirring, spacious pads sweep and synths scintillate beneath a catchy vocal refrain from Finnish-born Dwara. This culminates into a dramatic drop with massive synths and driving drums.

“With summer right round the corner, we wanted to make something that had a “feel good” vibe to it whilst retaining our signature emotive sound,” explain TIBASKO. “We’ve been sitting on this track for a couple of months trying to find the perfect vocalist to jump on it. We were introduced to an artist called Dwara originally from Finland, now based in Barcelona and she sent us a vocal that absolutely knocked it out of the park. It had an amazing nostalgic feel to it and she really understood the vibe that we wanted to get across, she’s got a way with storytelling in her lyrics- it felt like it was a match-made in Heaven.”

Ken Petalcorin and Andy Bowden AKA TIBASKO have been busy delivering their distinctive sound to the masses, making their indelible mark on dance music. They were recognised as Future Stars of 2021 by Pete Tong, named in DJ Mag’s ‘Ones To Watch’ list for 2019, and were one of BBC Introducing’s ‘Ones To Watch 2020’. They have received support from the likes of Diplo, Bonobo, John Hopkins, DJ Seinfeld, HAAi, Annie Mac, Danny Howard, and Jaguar.

Heralded by Mixmag and Billboard as having a “genre-bending approach to production” and an ability to “melt breaks and melodic house into something you’ll want to dance to with your eyes closed”, TIBASKO released their anthemic ‘U Know Me?’ in June this year. This was followed by ‘Snif & Snüf’, a boisterous rave-flavoured breaksy banger that showcased a new side to TIBASKO’s diverse repertoire.

The boys’ recent output has been prolific. Alongside original releases, they’ve remixed – and been remixed by – impressive names. Last summer, they were asked to remix BLOND:ISH, Eran Hersh, and Darmon’s take on Madonna’s 2005 hit, ‘Sorry’.

On the touring front,  they debuted their live hardware show at The Great Escape festival in May this year. This followed sets at The Secret Garden Party, and Brockwood Festival, where TIBASKO hosted their own stage, and in July were invited by Canadian artist Jacques Greene to play his show at the iconic KOKO in Camden, along with Laurence Guy and Mia Lily.

Living between Barcelona and London, ‘Running’ vocalist Dwara graces tracks with emotive and airy vocals that pair perfectly with experimental electronic beats, having so far worked with Kidnap (FKA Kidnap Kid) on their track ‘Fortified’ and FORM on ‘reaper’. Dwara’s collaborations have mostly been with more acoustic, folk-led artists such as Khotton for their collaborative album, ‘i love you, say it back’ – their single, ‘Mariana Trench’, now sits at over 1M Spotify streams.

TIBASKO’s trajectory remains on an upward spiral, with every new release, ‘Running’ among them, signalling a future brimming with promising potential from this dynamic pair.
