Two of the scene’s brightest talents join forces to deliver a cinematic release full of emotion and drama to RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue imprint
German melodic techno producer Tim Engelhardt teams up with Israeli dance star Sean Doron once again for a collaborative EP entitled ‘Open Doors’, out on 28th June.
Landing on the RÜFÜS DU SOL-owned Rose Avenue label, joining releases by the likes of Anyma, Cassian and Rona., this four-track EP features two stage-shattering tracks from the pair plus two solo cinematic dance tracks from Engelhardt, who’s arguably become melodic techno’s man of the moment. And, if the two’s April collab ‘So Good’ is anything to go by, listeners know they’re in for a treat.
The EP’s leading track, ‘Open Doors’, featuring vocalist Radoo, re-enacts the instantly recognisable “he’ll open doors” Banks Brothers sample from Moby’s 1999 chill-out anthem ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?’. This vocal fits perfectly with a glistening piano riff and sharp synths, making for an emotional moment on the dancefloor.
The second collaborative track, ‘I Can’t Get Over You’ delves into a deep trance, as the track becomes overshadowed by a domineering pitched down voice uttering the track’s title ominously.
Alongside these, Tim Engelhardt delivers two solo peak-time jams, ‘Falling’ and ‘Luminescence’. The former features signature sweeping synths, and a distinct groove made from gated vocals, while the latter, ‘Luminescence’ revolves around a series of complex arpeggiating high-end synths, over dramatic braaam-style low-ends.
Young melodic German techno sensation Tim Engelhardt is proving to be one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the scene in recent years. He released his raw debut album, ‘Moments Of Truth’, on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat label at 17, after starting his musical journey learning classical piano from his home in Cologne. He shifted to electronic production inspired by local producer Robert Babicz and released his first vinyl EP at just 14.
Tim’s music, characterised by harmony and expansive melodies, has been released on labels like Watergate, Innervisions, Vivrant, and Stil vor Talent, where his second album ‘Idiosynkrasia’ landed in 2020. He’s toured globally, performing at festivals and clubs in Australia, Africa, India, Europe, and the US.
Born in Tel Aviv, Sean Doron has become a leading export from Israel’s electronic music scene in the past decade. He founded the Monochrome events series in Tel Aviv, Ibiza, and Miami, and released music on top labels like Rebellion, Crosstown Rebels, Flying Circus, and Madtech. In 2023, Sean established the SCENARIOS collective and record label.
Doron held a residency at Rumors Ibiza and frequently performs at Woomoon Ibiza, IT Mykonos, DGTL Festival, Balaton Festival, Sound LA, Cuckoo London, Watergate TLV, Soundtuary Miami, and Tulum. His tracks get regular plays by big names such as Solomun, Black Coffee, and Marco Carola, and he’s shared stages with Dixon, Ame, Guy Gerber and more.
This EP is another reminder of what Tim Engelhardt and Sean Doron, two titans of the melodic techno scene, are capable of together in the studio. The result is a collaborative EP dripping with character, emotion and epic dancefloor drama.
