Hailing from the quaint town of Tarapoto, this musical prodigy started tinkering with electronic beats at the tender age of 15. He dabbled in Deep House and House, but as he honed his DJ skills, Volum1k’s ears perked up to the pulsating sounds of Tech House and Techno. With his signature style of robust drums and a hip hop flair, Volum1k quickly carved out a coveted spot in the Peruvian jungle electronic scene. His music is forever evolving, but he never strays too far from his roots. Volum1k is the real deal, and he’s here to stay.

– How did you begin with music and djing?
At a very early age, music caught my attention, especially the sound of drums. It was an old Sensation White 2004 video that a friend of mine showed me, which was the cause of my love for DJing.

– With which labels and artists have you worked on?

I have signed music with Happy Techno, Talk of The Town, Natural Rhythm, HotFingers, SweetMilk, and others.

– Any new releases?

Well, an EP on Natural Rhythm and two others on labels that I will soon reveal.

– In the studio, what’s your set-up?

At the moment, I am only using a laptop, a Traktor A6 audio interface, an Arturia Minilab MIDI controller, and some Yamaha HS5 monitors.

– Which DAW do you use to produce music?
I started using FL Studio, but soon after I met Ableton Live, I found it more dynamic, so I’m using that one.

– How has your musical taste evolved over the years?

I always try to maintain my influences. It is true that trends are constantly changing, but my evolution is directed towards my own style, which represents Volum1k – robust drums and crazy basses.

– What’s been your biggest challenge as a DJ and music producer?
I’m still working on finding a unique style that represents Volum1k, which is the biggest challenge.

– What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am a lover of video games and sports. When I am not in the studio, I spend my time playing or riding my bike.

– What advice would you give to another DJ and music producer starting out in his career?
A lot of dedication and patience, you have to be very sure that this is what you really want to do. Things come in due time. Believe in yourself and in your sound.
