VELVE releases three-track Be My Pony techno EP

Berlin-based producer, singer and live act VELVE releases Be My Pony, a three-track EP that emerged from her work as a composer for the documentary KitKatClub – Kinks of Berlin (In cinemas 10 September 2026).

VELVE composed several techno tracks for the documentary KitKatClub – Kinks of Berlin, from which the EP Be My Pony was subsequently developed. Rather than retrospective club edits, the tracks were originally created for the film and later adapted into a standalone release. The result is a raw, analogue body of work balancing physical intensity and emotional depth.

Track Overview

“Be My Pony” (148 BPM)
A peak-time weapon built around brutally stripped-back kicks and a massive bassline. Fragile strings and breathing textures introduce an intimate, almost vulnerable dimension. The track exists in a constant tension between physical force and emotional euphoria.

“Acid Environment” (138 BPM)
Uncompromising functional techno for the main floor. Punchy 909 drums, hypnotic acid lines and a clean, driving groove celebrate the aesthetics of classic Berlin underground techno while maintaining a distinctly contemporary edge.

“Top the Bottom” (136 BPM)
A deep, heavy loop driven by powerful 808 structures and dense low-end pressure. Physical, hypnotic and repetitive, the track refuses traditional resolution and instead sustains collective momentum through repetition and restraint.

The Sound & Approach

The entire release reflects VELVE’s approach to composition: combining cinematic structure with the direct physicality of club music. The production draws on the vocabulary of early Berlin techno — 909 and 808 drum machines, acid synthesizers and hardware sequencing — not as nostalgia, but as a living and contemporary practice.

Created entirely through hardware-based production, Be My Pony occupies the space between soundtrack composition and functional electronic music. The EP transforms material originally conceived for film into a standalone listening experience while retaining the intensity and atmosphere of its original context.

VELVE has previously gained support through releases including her acclaimed album ANALOG and continues to work across electronic music, live performance and composition. Her catalogue is represented by Wise Music for sync licensing.
