Boom Merchant is nonstop right now, and his new single, Throw Up, is yet more fire from the Irish techno producer.
Out on Boom Merchant’s record label Tribal Pulse, the original layers a bouncy bassline with raw percussion and hypnotic rhythms. Its swirling groove is ready to cause delight and mayhem on the dance floor.
“Throw Up” has many of the trademark signatures of Boom Merchant’s sound. Defined by a hardcore MC vocal sample, lurching swells, and razor sharp hi-hats, while its driving energy has brutal intent.
The original is reminiscent of the music Boom Merchant has released through the likes of T78’s Autektone Dark, and other highly respected record labels.
There are also two remixes, the first comes from Fractious whose streamlined version works in some new drums, and chops the original’s vocal into a looped sequence that merges perfectly with the percussion. It’s reminiscent of the music he has released on his own imprint RAW WORX, and others such as Sway and KD RAW.
Obsidian Wave delivers the second remix; he is a UK artist with a style combining breakbeat and techno. He toughens the drums and adds rippling textures that add a trippy element to his hard-hitting rework.
