Robbie Akbal drops new EP, “Osenchi” feat. re os – REO MATSUMOTO, Mamazu, Dachshun

Robbie Akbal delights with a new deep and organic house release that comes via Canadian record label, Suleiman. This stripped back and atmospheric release has melodic tracks with organic textures.

“Everything is Energy” is the opening track, and it’s a solo production by Robbie Akbal that layers cinematic synth pads with uplifting stabs, ethereal vocal textures, and a rubbery bassline. It’s an uplifting track that’s in line with what Robbie Akbal has released via his own imprint Akbal Music.

The title track, “Osenchi,” is a collaboration with, re os – REO MATSUMOTO, and Mamazu. It’s a three-way effort that combines psychedelic atmosphere with melodic elements to create a trippy groove. Its spacious sound creates tantalising suspense, while the tribal drums ensure a dance floor orientated energy.

On remix duty, Dachshund reworks “Osenchi” into a stripped back version that swaps the original’s tribal drums for a drum machine. He restructures the parts to build atmospheric suspense before introducing the original’s melody in the late sections of the track. It’s a rework that stays true to the original, while streamlining the structure to create a more DJ friendly version.
